Rising 2nd Grade Summer Learning
Reading
For about 30 minutes each day, we hope your child engages in any of the following:
Continue to read on a regular basis. Read physical books if you have them.
Continue to be read to (books with a higher vocabulary and up to their listening level which is higher than their reading level). Audio books are also great for this.
Visit your public library! Virtually or in person

Writing
Keep a journal and continue to write over the summer:
Write about something they have done
Make up stories and write books
Write a how-to cook, teaching someone how to do something
Write posters to help change the world!
Mathematics
Flash cards, Board games, card games, and dice games
Compare numbers up to 100
Practice addition facts to 10 and related subtraction facts
Combine basic two-dimensional shapes to make new shapes
Practice skip counting by 2, 5, and 10
Religion
Keep your child connected to and aware of God’s love. Click HERE for faith formation aids.
