PreK – 8 Admissions Information

While archdiocesan elementary schools within the Archdiocese of Washington Catholic Schools share a common curriculum and accreditation process, the application process, as well as the programs and services, may vary at each location.

Every Catholic school within the Archdiocese of Washington follows a robust, engaging curriculum based on rigorous academic standards that prepares students to meet the challenges of today’s society, coupled with certified teachers and a commitment to nurturing and promoting the dignity of all God’s children.

While archdiocesan elementary schools within the Archdiocese of Washington share overarching qualities, each expresses them in their own unique way. We know that not every child or family has the same needs, and therefore our Catholic schools offer a diversity of specific programs and attributes. The Archdiocese of Washington offers an educational approach that is far from “one size fits all.”

Submit Application

Form and Fees to that School

Once you find the right school for you and your child, fill out the application form and submit it to the school before the deadline.

It’s important to note that application deadlines may vary from school to school, so be sure to submit applications before the deadline of your potential school.

Take Placement Tests

At that School

Now that you’ve submitted the application, your student is ready to take a placement test! Depending on your student’s grade level, a placement test may be necessary. Placement tests will be held on the school campuses and are coordinated by the individual school.

The placement test is intended to ensure that your student is placed in an environment where they are positioned to succeed academically. The placement test will focus on reading, mathematics, and language arts skills.

Apply for Tuition Assistance

Based on financial need

When: Early December Deadline

No family should be turned away from an education due to financial difficulties. The Archdiocesan Tuition Assistance Program is available for students in grads PreK-12 who are applying to, or currently enrolled in, Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Washington.

Interview

With the principal

In an increasingly fragmented world, parents and their children require the continuity of a consistent, reliable school community – a safe, healthy environment where teachers and faculty care as much as family.

The interview process is mutually beneficial as it provides an opportunity for the parents and the student to meet with the school principal to learn more about the school and discuss the students unique needs.

Receive Good News!

Your student has applied, taken the placement test, and met with the school’s principal. Now you and your student get to celebrate! Each school will provide decision notifications to each applicant.

While this may be the end of the admissions process, it is the beginning of you and your child’s journey with the Archdiocese of Washington Catholic Schools. In the Archdiocese we are communities of faith where families, teachers, faculty and clergy join together to help every child succeed.
